I got bananas tattoo'd on my knuckles
White boy Greg spent the night, woke up around 7am and made some potato and egg burritos. Layered some Teriyaki pineapple BBQ sauce and dug in! Drove to my warehouse in Santa Ana only to drive all the way back to pick up my check to pay tuition. Got to Fullerton around 1pm and showed greg all the "fine" -> (fat over tanned bitches) at my school. no bueno. Headed back to the warehouse and started breaking down the old screen, recoating them, exposing them, and taping them.
Done around 5pm, drenched in sweat from the lamps and being stuck in a bathroom the whole time. You cant coat the screens in light because the chemical that is used to coat the screen is sensitive to light. It hardens. Which is why you use a dark negative of your design to expose your screens so the light hardens all the area around the design and your left with just your design.
then headed back to corona to pick up my friends, got on a toll road without any change and had to go on reverse back to the light that led us into it. sketch ha ha. drove all the way up to colton and played at this bar with Harley Quinn and Attila the Hun. Overall a great show, all of our close friends, and family came by and I found out my guitarist Steven's brother is also having a kid soon. Its always good seeing Evelyn and her band HQ play, they really improved their stage performance and music. Even got to take some pics!!! Evelynn got Bananas tattooed across her finger and started doing exhale screaming ha ha, crazy chunti!! We ended up getting kicked out because we were too sober, the bar tenders wanted the kids to buy drinks and food and do all this bullshit.
Had an interesting conversation with her and later with the promoter over their unprofessional behavior. Never playing there again or working with that production company. We were the only band that did presale, we were over 50 miles from the venue, and still got treated like shit. I swear some people are just born with greed in their veins. It was obvious they were trying to use us, but we paid to play which is stupid in itself so they can fuck off!!

Fail, Fail, Fail again and keep up the attitude
I got to see Dylan for a bit a few days ago, its still kinda weird not having Talyn around but he's handling business so I'm proud of what he's doing. Dylan and Matt got their first jobs last week working at Matt's dad's company unloading trucks and other equipment. Bout fucking time!! ha ha jk.Dylan's twin brother Clint had his traditional late night smoke sesh with the homies.
We argued over the side effects of smoking weed lol. never argue with a stoner.
You inhale 4x more tar with weed than cigs because joints/bowls aren't filtered. Higher amounts of Carbon Dioxide is inhaled with weed compared to cigs. In a sense smoking week is worse than cigs. I didn't smoke but it was over all a chill night. Came up with the idea of "Nug chicken", pretty much throwing some nug butter with chicken batter and baking it. then eating. dope right. million dollar idea, everyone would eat my fried chicken and get high ha ha ha. fuck you kernel!!
Talked to the SCM's sound engineer about recording my band, chill ass guy turns out he lives a few streets down from me lol. Had a legit convo on what would be the best way to record the band. Talked about how record labels aren't putting in as much effort in investing in bands with "some talent" and how they pretty much want a solid product "professionally recorded, mixed, and mastered CD" they could start selling. When it comes down to recording your paying for what your getting, like a tattoo. This guy is by far one of the best sound engineers I've come across in my music career, going to invest a little deeper in terms of studio time and try things out with him for Mixing and Mastering.
He sold his old studio to this guy named Jason, so we'll go there to track/record the songs and have SCM do the mixing and mastering. Got to get timing and lyrics down asap, he has a 1-2 month waiting list. Looking to release late October which works out for my clothing line. To make the day better, the VP at my work took out my division to lunch because we did well on a recent release. getting my job done. Free shrimp tacos, taste so much better when there FREE!!
So this past 2 weeks have been full of great failures ha ha, I bought the wrong screen sizes which lost me a grip of $$$, bought new larger ones and blew out the emulsions/designs, i missed my appointment to register my classes so my schedule is shit, i haven't had time to hang out with friends, studio time is going to cost over $1,000 for sure and nothing is saved up, struggling with creating the right song lyrics, I haven't had time to take pictures. FAil. FaiL. fAiL. and I still have a smile on!!
Its so frustrating trying to do everything and not getting everything right the first time. But thats how things are, when ever we fail at things we need to just "dust it off" and try to figure out another way to make it work. You can't just give up, and you can't take it out on yourself. We learn by making mistakes, they are a precondition for success. Keeping a good attitude towards failures and trying things again show initiative, initiative that can lead you to accomplishing your goal. Don't be scared to fail/fuck up, eventually you'll get it. If a pen isn't working, use a paint brush and see what happens.

Feed the wolves
I went to La Puente, Ca to meet up with Steven and his family for 4th, then headed to Newport Beach to meet up with Ronnie and his gf Laura at some house right on the beach. I got a grizzly hug from Ronnie after he jumped off his skate board, dude's so buff his bicep punched my jaw ha ha!! They were definitely celebrating ha ha. fucking nice house to chill at too. A live band played but we missed it. Laura got a ticket for drinking in public but the cop was chill and let her keep the drink. It wasn't too cold out and I saw the fireworks show...from far away ha ha. everyone was going all out for 4th, American flags everywhere. Everyone was super drunk and just having a good time. Wandered back to the car after the show to go to the movies!! not a big twilight fan, the movie wasn't bad though. oh and the last air bender sucked, directed horribly!
I've been working from 10am-7:30pm, then going to the warehouse to make shirts/screens/preparations till 2am everyday. I finished the Mummy and Warewolf screens last night with Dylan Russel, I seriously couldn't have done it without my best friend!! Going to make the first shirts Saturday. I'm officially almost 1/3 of the way done with production. The temp web site is up too www.mortusviventi.com , ill be putting up a new template once the shirts and shoots are done.
I'm really nervous of whats to come over the next 2 semesters, I feel like I've done so much since 09 but next year is going to be tough. The band is only 1 song away from releasing its first EP with me, studio time is going to cost $600+, clothing line still needs another $1300+, and personal expenses are almost non existent. I eat $2-4 of food a day to stay within my budget. College starts up in a few weeks and I only have from now till then to make the majority of the clothing line/studio funding at 40+ hrs a week. Next semester is all upper and lower division courses, finally get to take the interesting classes. The only thing that is really worries me is that once the EP is released the line needs to be ready as its released, and assuming that the EP gets us more shows and hopefully a tour or label or booking agency it might require me to step back from school for a bit. Its stupid in concept and my mother deff doesnt agree but I dont think I'll be leaving for at least another 2 semesters. My father thinks I should go out and experience it, he said that I should see if it truly makes me happy and pursue it. odd seeing how he's only been to one show in my 6+ years of screaming ha. So my senior year ill be touring hopefully. In that case ill take online courses so I don't fall too behind. Its just a trip that most of my goals for this year are slowly coming together. Establish a clothing line. maintain a good GPA in college "3.0". make a CD's that has worthwhile lyrics. go on tour. improve myself as a person. start painting. take more pictures. make new friends. take risks and learn. I tried talking to my mom about how shes doing and the money she owed me, she just hung up on me, she's still not over the vacation fight. I found a way to cut my expenses to improvise for it. I just think its stupid shes holding a grudge. I've put relationships on the back burner, there honestly more annoying and confusing for the time being so I'd rather not stress over sketch friends and stupid girls. I feel proud today, and I'm going to band practice tonight. perfect.
Practice went well, we worked out a lot of the kinks to "finding clarity" and watched videos of our last house show. People were getting down, its always a trip watching them because I dont remember the whole set. I remember starting the first song and ending the last one everything in between seems blank, like I zone out the whole time. I headed over to my friend Kaylas H. house and met her friend Shannon. Spent 6hrs just talking about Shannon's crazy work stories..."spit on me!!", killing zombies, tattoos, the last air bender, twilight :[, food, old jobs, ghost stories, parents, and other random things. They had beautiful personalities and it seemed like we knew each other for years!! It was 4am when I left, but it was such a good way to end the night. definitely had great conversations all night. I have work now, then going to the warehouse to help Ceasar make his shirts today, so I can make the mummy ones tomorrow after band practice. Didn't happen :[
